Toronto shoe fanatics, it’s the news you’ve been waiting to hear.

Christian Louboutin, the French retailer of luxury footwear, will open its first Canadian freestanding store in Yorkville next year.

Toronto will join the ranks of New York, Hong Kong, Miami, and Paris — global cities that have their own freestanding Louboutin stores.

The trademark red-soled shoes are already sold by several Canadian retailers, but the Toronto store is expected to provide a greater selection of Louboutins.

The store will occupy the former La Press Internationale at 99 Yorkville Ave., which has two floors of retail space.
